After the successful rollout of the Grok AI 1.5 chatbot, Elon Musk has announced the launch dates for the more advanced Grok 2 and Grok 3. These new versions by xAI will feature enhanced AI capabilities, building on the progress made by the recently launched version in areas such as long context understanding and advanced reasoning, as well as improved performance on benchmarks like MATH and HumanEval.
Grok 2 Launches in August
Elon Musk disclosed that Grok 2 by xAI will be launched in August. This new version will include significant improvements in AI functionality and dataset quality. Musk highlighted the challenges of cleaning large language model datasets for training AI bots, mentioning that considerable effort is required to purge large language models (LLMs) from available data.
“Sadly quite true. It takes a lot of work to purge LLMs from the Internet training data. Grok 2, which comes out in August, will be a giant improvement in this regard,” Musk stated.
Grok 3 Expected by Year-End
Looking further ahead, Musk revealed that Grok 3 will be released by the end of the year. This version will be trained on an impressive 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, promising to surpass current AI benchmarks and capture the imagination of AI enthusiasts worldwide.
The upcoming releases of Grok 2 and Grok 3 mark significant milestones in xAI’s mission to advance artificial intelligence. With these launches, xAI aims to set new standards in AI development and performance.
