Vishal Gupta, Head of Exchange at Coinbase, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange based in the United States, has decided to leave the company, according to reports. Gupta had been with Coinbase for over two and a half years and had previously worked at traditional finance giant Goldman Sachs before transitioning to the crypto industry.
Bloomberg reported on Monday that Gupta is leaving to work on a new project. His departure comes at a challenging time for both Coinbase and the cryptocurrency industry as a whole. The industry is facing a wave of bankruptcies and bank collapses, while Coinbase is currently under scrutiny from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Gupta is not the only high-profile executive to leave Coinbase in recent times. Earlier this year, the company’s Chief Product Officer Surojit Chatterjee also announced his departure, which took effect in 2022. These departures could raise questions about the future direction of Coinbase and its ability to navigate a rapidly changing and often volatile market.
