The Open Network (TON) blockchain is back online after experiencing a significant disruption that halted block production for several hours.
“TON is now producing blocks normally! We are back online,” the TON Foundation announced via their X page on August 28 at 5:30 am UTC.
Data from the TON transaction scanner, Dton.io, confirms that the blockchain has resumed operations, with the network registering 231,879,089 blocks at the time of reporting.
The block production outage was linked to the recent DOGS airdrop, which caused an abnormal load on the network. DOGS, a new memecoin built on the TON blockchain, is designed to reflect the culture and spirit of the Telegram community.
The TON Foundation stated that several validators were unable to clean their databases of old transactions, leading to a loss of consensus among the network nodes.
To resolve the issue, TON Core issued a call for validators to restart at 4:00 am UTC to reestablish consensus across the network.
“Rest assured, your transactions will be completed, and no cryptocurrency assets will be lost due to the issue,” the TON Foundation assured users.
