Yesterday Saturday 9th of March 2024, marked a significant milestone for the crypto and Blockchain sector in Nigeria, as the curtains were lifted on the largest Blockchain hub in Lagos, the BlockSpace Innovation Hub. Months of silent dedication and hard work culminated in a grand unveiling, promising to reshape the landscape of technological innovation in the region.
In a heartfelt address, the visionary behind the project, the founder of BlockSpace Innovation Hub Mr Chuta Chimezie, expressed his profound passion for the industry and his unwavering commitment to giving back to the community. The hub, envisioned as a nexus of creativity and collaboration, aims to empower and train a new generation of Blockchain developers across Nigeria and Africa.
Dr. Kasishfu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), echoed the sentiment of digital inclusion as a cornerstone of progress. Represented by Dr. Falilat Jimoh, he emphasized NITDA’s substantial investment towards fostering local talent and reducing dependency on foreign exchange, aligning with the agency’s vision of ‘made locally for global consumption’. This initiative seeks to harness Nigeria’s youthful demographic dividend by nurturing not only finished products but also cultivating raw talent within the country.

The soft launch drew a diverse crowd of industry luminaries, including the esteemed presence of Mr. Lee Ucheoma Ohaeri, CEO of CoinNewsExtra, alongside other prominent figures such as Tola Joseph, Tony Emeka, and Obasi Francis. The event was marked by the official inauguration of the innovation hub by the NITDA DG, followed by entertainment, refreshments, and insightful interview sessions facilitated by CoinNewsExtra.
