Blockchain & FutureTech Conference Comes to Lagos

Between 29th September and 30th September 2022, all the roads in Africa led to Civic Center situated on Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, Lagos, where the Blockchain & FutureTech Conference, one of the biggest blockchain conferences in Africa, was taking place. This year’s conference sought to explore the theme “Immerse and Grow in FutureTech.” In attendance were 747 individuals from various parts of Africa. BNUG has been holding similar blockchain conferences since 2017. The conference gave participants from various nations a golden chance to interact and share insights on how blockchain can be regulated and how it can be used to create concrete career opportunities for talents across Africa. Chuta Chimezie, the head of the conference organizing committee and the CEO of BNUG, was among the prominent speakers who stressed the need for Africa to embrace blockchain technology before it is too late.

Other renowned speakers who gave remarkable talks regarding the prospects of blockchain technology during the conference included Akindeide Oluseyi (Hyperspace founder), Hammed Arowosegbe (VR AR Association President), Barino Paul (member coordinating committee for Blockchain Industry Nigeria) and Sarah Malik (the CEO SOL International). This year’s conference was exceptional because the number of female speakers was higher than the past conference. Celebrated female voices who have immersed themselves in the competitive world of blockchain start-ups spoke during the conference, and they include Ruth Isalema (the current Bitmama CEO) and Precious Wogu (the CEO of Blockvila), who made an unforgettable presentation on blockchain technology and financial inclusion in Africa.

All the panellists concurred that Africa must implement frameworks that will expedite the uptake of blockchain technology. Besides networking with various players in the industry, the conference participants got the opportunity to explore exclusive experiences in the Metaverse Experience Room NFT. On day two of the conference, attendees exhibited their blockchain-related innovations. At the end of the conference, Mr. Chuta Chimezie asserted that a similar conference would be conducted in 2023.
