Nigerian President Appoints New SEC Director-General and Board Chairman

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has appointed Emomotimi Agama as the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Furthermore, the president has endorsed the appointment of Mairiga Aliyu Katuka as the commissionā€™s board Chairman.

This announcement was made in a statement issued by Ajuri Ngalale, a spokesperson for the president, on Friday.

Joining the board are professionals such as Frana Chukwuogor as Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement), Bola Ajomale as Executive Commissioner (Operations), Samiya Hassan Usman as Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services), Lekan Belo as Non-Executive Commissioner, and Kasimu Garba Kurfi as Non-Executive Commissioner.

ā€œThe President expects each member of the Board to contribute their extensive experience and expertise to advance the commissionā€™s primary objective of developing and regulating a capital market that is dynamic, equitable, transparent, and efficient. This will further bolster investor confidence and significantly contribute to the economic development of the nation,ā€ the report concluded.
