The first blockchain election App developed in Nigeria

The UniVote Dev team had broke the news to the public through A press release, stating the Creation of an Election App which uses a blockchain technology. It is a virgin Development, The first of its kind. It was established on 28th of October,2019.

A spokesman is quoted as saying;

” We personally believe, the need for a platform that is not only truly secure but dependable and will be a beacon of hope and a new face of translucency across all socio-political and socio-economic threads of every community. We not only believe that this will change the narrative but create actual results to differ materially but cause an ample urgent change.”
This would surely address some security concerns with regards to Electorial processes.This would also spearhead other creations and developments with regards to This recent innovative platform.

The spokesman also announced that the prototype is presently on the ethereum test-net for the mock election, we plan on deploying on the aeternity main-net in the nearest future.

Team includes Goodness Ezeokafor, Emmanuel Nduka, Kevin Shitnaan Kaslong, Godfrey Haggai Malan, President NACOSS University of Jos chapter & CEO Jay toons studios, Shekinah Gonzwak Director of software NACOSS and Stephen Sunday Kusu eternity Lead for West Stephen & CEO KusuConsult and the support from NACOSS national, esteemed Department of Computer Science University of Jos and the ICT Directorate University of Jos.

The traditional process is analog with ballot boxes, voter lists and ballot papers. Described easily by long queues, ineffective personnel, faulty voting equipment/ late arrival of the equipments and host of insufficiencies that make the whole affair cumbersome and undesirable. The new system has no queuing, no election materials, no personnel policy, were voters can vote from anywhere in the world on a secure and transparent platform.

A live result feature which everyone can see the results as appear change reaching to rural areas and urban city alike with the nature of the platform election time can be stretched with no extra cost.

The introduction of this Innovative creation to our Electoral sector will bring about more efficiency. Online databases hugely facilitate the task of creating and managing accurate and up-to-date electoral rolls. In less developed countries, whose citizens often lack reliable identity documents, biometric technology can help to identify voters, thus preventing fraud in the form of multiple voting.

Democracy is almost everything the blockchain stands for freedom, security and equality and transparency. In our opinion the blockchain platform was created for this specific purpose not having innovations like this running on the platform will be a waste of technology.

The main aim of the project is to encourage political participation by providing a truly secure and democratically accepted outlet for stress-free and modern elections. Central show that election can be stress-free, easy and transparent.

On the one hand, allowing citizens the convenience of casting their vote online without the need to visit polling stations could help to reverse a worrying decline in voter turnout across the world.
More sophisticated technologies would also need to be created, to ensure online voting systems are fully secured and guided against Hackers.

What does it seek to achieve: Increase political participation by fostering transparency in public and private elections.

The election App will be used today  Monday 20th January 2020, to conduct the student union election at the University of Jos Nigeria.
