Gender Inequality has been one of the most persistent problems around the world since ancient days. Over the years, different schemes and programmes have been organised to create a lasting solution to this problem.
One of such schemes is “Gender Gap can’t Wait challenge” created by Rebeca Fermandez which is intended to close the gender gap by 2030 using Blockchain technology.
Rebeca Fermandez is the CEO, golden Human Capital and a Co-founder of Solving Gender Gap. She believes that the current technology is not good enough for seeking gender inequality.
On the first edition of the program Solving Gender Inequality using Blockchain, on CoinNewsExtra, Rebeca said: “We have been hearing for many years and we are still living with inequality in the world… and that’s why we came out with a solution hoping that Blockchain can help with gender inequality”
What is Gender Inequality?
Gender inequality refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. It arises from differences in socially constructed gender roles.
The vision and mission of “Gender Gap can’t Wait challenge” movement
The vision of movement is to close the gender gap by 2030 starting in emerging countries like Africa “…because we want to increase the female ecosystem in the Blockchain space, it would spread all over the world”, said Rebeca.
From research and statistics, it would take at least 100 years for a community to effectively solve gender inequality. The mission of the movement is to reduce the gender gap in 10 years.
Rebeca said that they have a Blockchain toolbox that can be implemented anywhere. Prior to this, they need to increase the ecosystem. “We need to increase people that are using the Blockchain especially in developing countries,” added Rebeca.
The challenge would bridge the gap and increase gender equality in the Blockchain space and in turn in the society. Anyone who wants to join the challenge can easily do that by visiting www.solvinggendergap.eu or www.gendergapcantwaitchallenge.org.
Join Rebeca every two Thursdays 12pm GMT+1 live on CoinNewsExtra for more on Solving Gender Inequality using Blockchain.
