Crypto Hub Africa says it has concluded plans to unveil its maiden edition of the African Crypto Giants (ACG) Awards.
This event seeks to award deserving organizations and individuals in Africa.
Gson Ebuka, Chief Executive Officer of Crypto Hub Africa and initiator of the awards, said that the region’s ecosystem could solve its most pertinent problems with Blockchain technology.
“With blockchain on its way to becoming a central element in the next digital transformation of the global economy, the African continent is yet to fully tap into the technology’s full potential.
“Yet Africa is adopting cryptocurrencies faster than its global counterparts and the continent’s adoption of trading in cryptocurrencies has surged by over 1200 percent over the last years and countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania are ranked among the top 20 of the 2021 Global Crypto Adoption Index (GCAI),” he said.
According to him, the infrastructure deficit makes Africa a perfect fit for the adoption of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
This, he said will boost financial inclusion, as well as cheaper and faster transactions.
“To that extent, the award recognizes the crypto industry innovators, advocates, entrepreneurs, leaders, projects, platforms, and individuals, who are making an impact within their organizations and driving global crypto transformation on the African continent.
“There are a total of 20 award categories spread across different areas of the blockchain and crypto industry ranging from the Best Exchange Company in Africa Award to Crypto Communities of The Year and Crypto Friendly Organisations. The awards are intentionally crafted to celebrate Africa’s journey into the blockchain and crypto space over the years,” he said.
