Co-creation Hub created re:learn – education practice focused on supporting students and schools to use.

Co-creation Hub is an innovation centre dedicated to accelerating the application of social capital and technology for economic prosperity. We currently operate in Nigeria, Rwanda and Kenya through iHUB.

Their goal is to improve the quality of and access to education in Nigeria through the application of innovation and technology in smart ways to enhance learning particularly in STEM Education.

Co-creation target in Creation and Curation of interactive and engaging content for 21st century learning, introduction of innovative teaching methodologies with a focus on Inquiry Learning, training Teachers to use these resources and methodology to transform learning in their classrooms.

The Impact of Covid-19 on Education which is not limited to Schools Closure, Disruption in students learning, potentially deeping learning poverty particularly in low-income countries, Huge Financial losses due to the schools closure and Potential increase in drop-out rates has pushed for the creation of a remote education.

Despite the advantages of remote learning there are lot of challenges spanning from readiness to switch to remote method to cost of operation and poor internet and electricity service.

To make effective use of the remote opportunities during the pandemic, the following has been planned;
• To reach area with low or no access to internet and electricity low tech solutions like Whatsapp, Radio, SMS, low bandwith web app will be embraced. Also, a structure that takes timing and power/data constraints into consideration with the use of bite-sized , simple easily adaptable formats (images, short videos, audio) will be designed.

• In supporting teachers to deliver virtual learning, a Community of Practice to interact frequently, motivate, collaborate, encourage each other and Conduct Pilot sessions is necessary. The platform used will be design to Include other activities and training opportunities to help them improve their skills as a means of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

• Finally, Remote learning will be monitored through parents and guardians and through general assessments.

This period should be optimized as it teaches us that ICT can play a huge role in transforming education and we need to be more intentional about integrating it into our system.
