Leading Blockchain Solutions and Product firm, Convexity has announced that it has secured the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) Compliance License.
This means that Convexity has been certified to have met international best practices in handling public data.
As part of efforts to secure the compliance status, Convexity announced that it participated in a Data Protection Compliance Organization (DPCO) audit/training to verify that it complies with NDPR standards for data protection.
A statement released in this regard by Convexity stated “Having gone through the NDPR compliance process, the Convexity team is pleased to announce that we have earned the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) Compliance License. Proving that the team has adopted international best practices in managing the public’s trust and data.
“NDPR closely mirrors the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), taking into account the developing international standards for protecting data privacy and enhancing data sovereignty through an effective data protection framework.
“NDPR’s mandate is to ensure that Nigerians promote ethical behavior in business dealings including the transfer of personal data, prevent data manipulation, and ensure a fair legal and regulatory data protection framework.”
The NDPR is the main data protection regulation in Nigeria issued by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
As contained in the implementation framework for the NDPR, the guideline seeks to safeguard and regulate the personal data of users.
“Government further takes cognizance of emerging data protection laws and regulations in the international community geared towards protecting privacy, identity, lives, and property as well as fostering the integrity of commerce and industry in the data and digital economy and has realized the imperative importance of developing data protection rules and regulations to protect the personal data of Nigerian citizens and residents.”
