Bloc is pleased to announce the acquisition of Getwallets, the leading wallets-as-a-service provider that has provided access to over 300 million users worldwide.

Getwallets’ founder and CEO, Jerry Enbeli will join Bloc as an Executive Director with responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the business, including product development and customer experience.

Getwallets is one of Africa’s largest payments orchestration companies and is backed by Naspers Group, Africa’s leading digital media company. Bloc was founded in 2017 with a vision to build a platform that enables financial institutions and other financial services companies to provide F/BaaS services through its network of data centers.

Bloc’s acquisition of Getwallets will help them expand its existing offerings into the payments space through its payment APIs and SDKs. The acquisition also complements Bloc’s broader strategy around providing F/BaaS services to banks through its network of data centers.

Bloc specialises in providing proprietary and aggregated APIs that allow businesses to offer banking and financial services to their customers while also handling most of the regulatory and compliance requirements on their behalf.

Bloc processed more than $30 million in the past year through its bill payments API alone and recently launched its SuperAgency tool, which allows licensed companies to offer agency banking services. In addition, Getwallets was founded in 2021 by Jerry Enebeli and Yewande Odumosu to offer an integrated payment and wallet framework allowing payment providers a more unified structure for their customers.

Bloc’s acquisition of Orchestrate will see the platform gain a suite of payment solutions, including online payments, subscription management, bill payments, and more.

According to Olotu, founder of Bloc; ‘We believe in empowering businesses of all sizes to offer their customers seamless payment solutions.’

‘The world is changing, and the way we pay for things has never been more important. That’s why we built Bloc—to help our users and their businesses thrive through the transition to mobile payments.’

‘In fact, our vision has always been to make this easier for everyone involved. When people are able to pay using their phones, they’re more likely to do it—and when they have a smooth experience paying with their phone, they’re more likely to keep using it. The end result is that your business will grow faster than ever before.’

Existing FinTech companies and new startups want to streamline their capabilities and offer a network of applications with seamless service delivery. Bloc and Orchestrate intend to make that happen, empowering these businesses to expand.

This is the first step in a promising roadmap for both companies. Let’s hope for sustainable growth for all FinTech companies, regardless of whether or not they use Bloc or Orchestrate.
