Bittrex cryptocurrency exchange in an announcement said that it is moving headquarters from the Malta to Liechtenstein.
October 29 will see Bittrex International close their offices that operate outside Malta. It may have come after the financial regulating body in Malta said that licensed cryptocurrency businesses will be monitored in a bid to curb money laundering.
Upon closure in Malta, Bittrex will operate under the brand Bittrex Global, out of Liechtenstein. “Once Bittrex Global launches, eligible Bittrex International customers, including corporate accounts, will be seamlessly redirected to Bittrex Global,” said the exchange.
Bittrex Global announced its launch earlier this month and it will carryout cryptocurrency trading using Liechtenstein’s Blockchain Act.
Just last week, Bittrex announced that it is shutting down in 31 countries, including Venezuela and Zimbabwe, also on Oct. 29, due to “regulatory uncertainty.”
