APC Presidential Flagbearer Commits To Crypto, Blockchain Development

The Presidential Aspirant Under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to allow for policies and programs that will aid the development of the cryptocurrency and Blockchain Technology industry, if elected to rule.

Tinubu made this known in his recently unveiled manifesto ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“We will reform government policy to encourage the prudent use of blockchain technology in finance and banking, identity management, revenue collection, and the use of crypto assets,”

“APC government will “also encourage the CBN to expand the use of our digital currency, the e-naira.” Tinubu’s manifesto read in parts.

Recall that the Cryptocurrency industry in Nigeria remains strictly guided by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

However, the country’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo recently committed to the development of the Blockchain Technology industry in the country.

Also, Nigeria has taken an innovative lead to develop a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) known as the ‘e-Naira’.
