African FinTech Summit Scheduled To Hold In South Africa

Players in Africa’s FinTech industry are set to meet for the 8th edition of the Africa FinTech Summit(AFTS).

The initiative, dedicated to the African fintech ecosystem is scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa.

AFTS is traditionally hosted in Washington, D.C., each April during the World Bank/IFC annual meeting week and in a different African city each November.

According to the organizers, the participants represent over $4.5bn in private equity and venture capital funding.

This year’s summit will focus on issues revolving around the policy and regulation of the industry, tech talent, the future of banking, mobile money growth, and integration.

This is in addition to the issues of Embedded Fintech, blockchain, Powering African Fintech via VC, Debt Financing & CVC investing, remittances, intra-Africa Trade & payment infrastructure, and financial inclusion.

Past November AFTS Summits took place in countries which include Lagos(2018), Addis(2019), Virtual(2020), and most recently, Cairo(2021).
